— Jessica Knoll, Ages 15 & 16
“I wrote both poems in high school, during my sophomore and junior years at The Shipley School, in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I have several books of poetry that I kept from ages eleven to eighteen. They address everything from love—or what I thought was love at that tender age!—to sex to fights with friends to eating issues to body issues to bullying. Some are so melodramatic they make me laugh, and some, like this one about the diver, make me sad to this day.”
